The director used the 180 degree rule to perfection in this scene keeping everything within an 180 degree radius around the point of interest. The director also did a great job with the rule of thirds in this scene. The main character starts out in the middle third of the screen with the shark popping out of the water in the left third of the screen, then in the next shot the main character is in the right third of the screening sticking the the rule of thirds. The 30 degree rule was also used by the director in this scene every time the shot changes and camera position changes the camera is at least 30 degrees away from the previous shot. Jaws is a very famous film done by a very famous director, Steven Spielberg. I think his knowledge of the industry and art of directing as well as his artistic eyes im sure he followed these rules without even thinking about it, his experience makes things like these rules second nature.
