FADE IN

EXT. ABOARD THE ORCA – DAYTIME

CHIEF MARTIN BRODY is throwing chum into the water as shark comes flying out of the water missing his hand by inches

(Shark splashing out of the water)

CHIEF MARTIN BRODY slowly starts backing up towards the motor room where QUINT is

(Waves crashing against boat as it sways back and forth)
(Bell ringing in motor room)
(Creaking of old wooden ship)

CHIEF MARTIN Brody turns to Quint

CHIEF MARTIN BRODY
We’re gonna need a bigger boat

FADE OUT

Much of the sound from this scene is casual sound that comes from the boat and the water.  With little things like the bell ringing and the creaks of the old wooden ship it makes everything seem so believable and real.  There is a lot of representation of sound in this scene, the change of sounds when chief Brody goes from being outside on the deck to inside in the motor room is as the sound begins to echo more while inside but you can still hear the sounds of the deck but much more muffled than when he is outside.  The sounds of the shark coming out of the water is loud to a point were you feel like it was coming out of the water straight at you which made it much more realistic.  You can hear the bell ringing from on the deck of the boat but it get progressively louder as Chief Brody is slowly walking back into the motor room where quint is.    The technique of actually filming in a real body of water made the sounds of the ocean and the boat actually real instead of if they just filmed it all in a pool in some studio in Hollywood

Blog Assignment #3

Acknowledge the lizard is the related to the previous blog that I spoke of the Avett Brothers song it is the fear of being laughed at and not being taken seriously that is imprinted in our brain.  This fear holds us back from practicing our art and creating something to be proud of.  Ship is the layer that is crucial to success, it is the ability to be the number one person in a field and get your product out there while your competitors shake in fear.  But that fear of not producing something that people like is what holds you back from shipping.  The third layer is fail, this layer is necessary in order to succeed you must get knock down a couple times before you can be on top.  To fail is to be challenged to make something better than what it is make something bad once and you know what not to do the next time.

There is no doubt in my mind that these three layers connect to the creation of this blog in many different ways.  Acknowledge the lizard, ship, and fail are all layers that I face when creating for this blog.  Throughout the duration so far of the creation of this blog I have faced failures and success' that I believe have helped me grow as a person as well as an artist.

The first and I believe most important layer is Acknowledge the lizard.  A blog is something that can be seen by anyone who desires too as well as my peers and classmates I had to teach myself to acknowledge the lizard with my every post and not care what people say or think of my input on different artistic subjects as well as my creations.  This blog would be much harder if with everything I posted I was worried that someone might laugh at it or not like or agree with me.

The second layer in relation to this blog is ship.  Keeping updated on the weekly blogs and producing good thought provoking work is important to success artistically.  Also, having the ability to look at my classmates blogs and see their creations gives the feeling of a little friendly competition that is capable of constantly moving the bar upwards in order to compare and contrast the qualities of work between fellow classmates.

The third layer is fail, this layer is crucial to the success of an artist.  While doing this blogs I can get input back from my peers in order to see what I'm doing wrong or "failing" at.  Although I may lose a couple points here and there it is helpful in the way that I know for a fact that I won't let it happen again.  I believe that failure is critical to making something better the next time until something finally clicks and works out.

This blog as a whole is undoubtedly helpful to me as a student, artist, and as a person.  I gives me the oppurtunity to read and look at things and then expand on them and all there aspects is helpful to the creating and reasoning behind future projects and endeavours.  Reading the interesting articles about arts and the creative process as well as being able to see my peers work and what level that they are at is a big help to me as an creator and artist.

Blog Assignment #2

The link below is the link to Johathon Flaum’s FIND YOUR HOWL.
http://changethis.com/manifesto/show/51.01.YourHowl

The story that I chose to summarize is the first story about a red wolf named Mumon.  Mumon was released from captivity along with 13 other wolves all who did not know how to howl.  Once in the wild all the wolves gave up except for Mumon he went out to find his howl.  After some chance encounters Mumon found his howl and brought it back to the pack.  I believe that this story shows that everything isn't just given to you, sometimes you have to go out and get it yourself.  The story also shows you to never give up cause eventually you will find what you are looking for.

One of my favorite band's the Avett Brothers has a song called "Paranoia in B major" the lyrics of the song have helped me as a creative person and thinker.

"I keep having this dream; I'm at a party
There's people throwing drinks and screaming telling me that I don't belong
Lately life's been the same I find this comfortable place
With all my friends then my friends start telling me that I've always been wrong
And I'm so tired of being wrong"

The first time that I heard the song I really enjoyed the beat and was curious what the title meant so I went and looked at the lyrics.  Upon reading the lyrics I found that like many songs it was telling a story, but there was something about this story that made me think.  The song tells the story of a paranoid man who keeps having a dream that everyone is mad at him and he doesn't fit in.  In his real life his friends tell him that he always wrong and he is sick of that and just wants to do right.

This story of this man really speaks to me as a creative person in many ways.  As a creative person when you create something new you are always paranoid about what people are going to think of it.  But in order to overcome this you just have to learn to let go and only care what you think not others.  Like the man in the story you just have to figure out a way to move on and not get tied up thinking people don't like you as a person or as a creator.  If you start thinking to hard it will be reflected in your work in a way that comes off as over done and over thought.

You can find yourself trapped in this creative world that all you care about is pleasing others and making others happy through your work.  I think that it's important to just do the things that make you happy as an artist and there is a pretty good chance that it will make others happy as well.  You can learn a lot about yourself by just letting go creatively and just seeing what happens that how you truly can figure out what kind of creator and person you are.

Paranoia is a complete waste of time and energy and can eat you up from the inside out.  Some of the most influential artsits in history were not brought into success by being paranoid about what people think of their works but rather setting the bar and saying "who cares" this is what I like to create so you can take it or leave it. People may doubt you or give up on you or tell you that you can't do something but the only way to truly find out is to just say "who cares" im not listening to people doubt me and tell me that I can't do something i'm just going to go out and do something the way that I want to because that is all that matters to me.

Blog Assignment #1

Protagonist

For the color scheme of my protagonist I chose an analogous orange and red.  The color scheme gives off a warm feeling but represents the power of the character as well as its ability to appeal to a wide audience.  These colors are represented of the powers that my character uses as well as a representation of his home which is found inside a volcano.  The colors compliment each other perfectly because of their relation on the color wheel being right next to each other.  This makes the character easy on the eyes but also gives the character an certain edge that gives off the impression that he means business.

The characters lighting is very bright and powerful.  The idea behind this is to give the character a sense of power and make him a public figure that everyone can see and recognize as a face of safety.  Evil will always know when the character is around and want to run and hide because of the powerful feelings that his lighting emits.  Also the lighting goes along with his fire like shape giving off brightness and warmth as a representation of his strength and power.

The shape of the character is no real or rigid lines it is much more free flowing like fire.  The Character shapes is somewhat unconventional as far as many other super heroes but the allusiveness of the shape of the character really adds to the overall personality and abilities of the character.  The shape of the character adds to his intimidation factor to enemies and his unpredictability.  With the character not having any sharp edges in his shape it gives off less of the cliche square or rectangular shape of the average super hero putting the character in a league of his own.

The characters name is Fuego

Antagonist

The color scheme for this character is mo monochromatic blue color scheme.  This colors represent the cool against the heat of the protagonist as well as the evil of the character.  The darker shades of blue on the character help to show that the character is dark and the face of bad rather than good.  With very dark blues that fade into a black it and very low intensity of the colors it shows that the character is not flashy but much more mysterious and hidden in the shadows.

The lighting of the character is much more dark and saturated than that of the protagonist.  Although in some spots on the character there are bright blues and almost whites the overall is much darker to once again add to the mysterious of this evil character who is known to be hidden in every dark shadow around producing fear in anyone who comes in contact with.  The darkness of the lighting of the character really helps to contrast with the brightness of the protagonist.

For the shape of the character I chose to do something that is very edgy and sharp.  I believe this shape really gives the character an scary and threatening demeanor.  Also the edgy shape contrast with the free flowing shape of the protagonist and makes the character seem much more dangerous.  This shape makes the character look like he is the ultimate enemy to the protagonist.  Finally the shape of the character as well as the spike like shape goes with a fire and ice relationship between the protagonist and antagonist.

The characters name is Hielo
